Livestock/dairy unit 1: Hoof care

This learning unit is focusing on the topic Hoof Care and is built into 2 parts, part 1) a virtual assignement and part 2) a learning unit. The learning unit is done as a transnational mobility lasting for 10 days (excluding travel).
Virtual assignment Hoofcare
In this virtual assignment the participants learn how to set up and execute a locomotion score. After scoring they determine the predicted loss due to lameness in dairy cattle by using a format.
The participant are cooperating in a project environment and they present their results in the English language to each other |
Learning unit
During the two week long learning unit the participants learn how to trim the hoofs of dairy cattle. They learn about the diseases and disorders and the role of (improper) Feeding and Housing. Besides preventive, the participants after the course can do some curative treatments. They visit different farms and they will execute and present a Risk Inventory on hoof health at a specific farm.
